McDonald’s accepting global currencies for one day only

In conjunction with its new global menu of "Worldwide Favourites", McDonald's outlets across the U.S. will today accept foreign currency as payment.

From 2 pm until 5 pm today, customers will be able to exchange any amount of any foreign currency for an item from the global menu. That means that for just 20 New Zealand cents, you could purchase the Canadian-inspired Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger (a fresh beef burger topped with applewood-smoked bacon, smoky McBacon sauce, Gouda cheese and slivered onions), which normally retails at USD $5.59.

The other items on the global menu are a Dutch Stroopwafel McFlurry (vanilla soft serve mixed with caramel and chopped Dutch Daelmans Stroopwafel caramel waffle cookie pieces); a Spanish Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich (grilled or crispy all-white chicken with sliced Roma tomatoes, herb sauce, creamy mozzarella cheese, slivered onions and lettuce); and Australian-inspired Cheesy Bacon Fries (McDonald’s fries topped with cheddar cheese sauce and chopped Applewood smoked bacon).
