Popeye’s has reported one of the best quarters in nearly two decades following the release of their new chicken sandwich. The sandwich, which sold out within 14 days post-release, increased comparable sales growth across Popeye’s USA stores by over ten percent.
Part of the success of the sandwich is attributed to the ongoing hype that it has been receiving on social media and online forums. Especially in relation to the sandwich war with Chick-fil-A, fans and foodies alike were eager to try it upon release.
Restaurant Brands International CEO, Jose Cil, said that 65 percent of the USA is still yet to get a Popeyes, meaning that although there has been substantial growth, there is still room for more.
