KFC Launch Gonna Wanna Deals

To celebrate the arrival of its new, irresistible Gonna Wanna Every Day Deals, KFC is calling on fans to prove just how far they’ll go for great value, with NZD 10,000 cash up for grabs.

KFC’s new Gonna Wanna Deals offer something for every Kiwi budget.

On Saturday, 16th May, a giant KFC Gonna Wanna Snack Box will appear in the heart of Auckland CBD, in Commercial Bay’s Te Komititanga Square, in an endurance challenge that will test even the most devoted KFC fan.

Registrations are open to all Kiwis, and they’re Gonna Wanna sign up. The rules are simple: the person or people who keep their hands on the KFC Gonna Wanna Snack Box for the longest time, walk away with their share of NZD 10,000 in cash. While it’s simple in concept, there will be additional challenges thrown at participants throughout the day, as well as enticing offers to take their hands off the Gonna Wanna Snack Box.

The event will be hosted by New Zealand personality Jimi Jackson, who will MC the day, including live streams across social, and will be on hand to crown the winner. Those coming along to support their friends or family entering will be entertained with a live DJ set and on-the-spot prizes.

“I’d do some incredible things to get my hands on a Gonna Wanna Snack Box, and I have a feeling this challenge will bring out Kiwis from far and wide! The commitment, the stamina, the thousand-yard stare of someone who refused to let go of a giant KFC Gonna Wanna Snack Box, I’m ready to see who’s built for it! May the best Kiwi win,” said Gonna Wanna Snack Box Host, Jimi Jackson.

“At KFC, we're always looking for ways to give Kiwis more bang for their buck. The Gonna Wanna Deal Value range is designed to do exactly that by letting customers customise to suit whatever their hunger (and their wallet) is saying,” said Oliver Zareian, KFC Senior Brand Manager.

“This challenge is our way of celebrating great value, with a NZD 10,000 cash prize awarded to the person who can last the longest, or split evenly between the last people with their hands on the box at 11:59 pm.”

The challenge kicks off at 10:00 AM Saturday, 16th May 2026, at Te Komititanga Square and runs until only one hand remains, or 11:59 pm on Saturday 16th May if there is more than one person remaining.

Think you’ve got what it takes? All participants must register by following the Gonna Wanna post instructions on KFC’s Instagram and Facebook for their chance to be selected to take part. Registrations are open until 5:00 PM on Sunday, 10th May. T&Cs apply.

The NZD 4.99 Snack Box comes with 2x Wicked Wings and regular fries, with the option to swap from Wicked Wings to 1x KFC Slider or 2x Crispy Tenders for an additional NZD 2.

Stepping up, the NZD 9.99 Lunch Box includes a Snack Burger and regular chips, plus a choice of either 2x Secret Recipe Chicken, 3x Wicked Wings, or 2x Crispy Tenders. For bigger appetites, the NZD 14.99 Meal Box features a Colonel Burger, regular chips, and the same choice of either 2x Secret Recipe Chicken, 3x Wicked Wings, or 2x Crispy Tenders. That’s a value hard to ignore, and now KFC wants to find the Kiwi who wants it the most.
