A pig on the loose in the North Island town of Waihi was eventually brought under control thanks to the quick thinking of the local KFC staff.
"We got into a pursuit with a pig," Waihi police Constable Harley North told a local radio station. The pig, which was estimated to weigh around 150kg, is thought to have been a pet that had broken loose. Staff from Waihi KFC were called in to help, and fed the pig KFC chips and bread rolls, luring it to a makeshift pen at the local church.
"The pig was left to contemplate his sinful behaviour," North said.
