Jano Bistro returns

Wellington fine-dining restaurant Jano Bistro has finally reopened, ten months after it closed without explanation, bringing to a close one of the great mysteries of the Wellington culinary scene.

The newly-renovated restaurant has recently reopened, with new downstairs seating, a fireplace and an open format kitchen. A la carte menu options have been removed and two degustation menus remain, with four and eight-course options. All dishes are vegetarian-friendly, with meat being an optional extra.

The state of the restaurant has been something of a mystery since December last year, with the only indication that the restaurant would still operate being an auto-reply email. However, the Wellington City Council confirmed that Jano Bistro had reapplied for its health licence earlier this year and there was nothing to suggest that it was set to close permanently.
