A restaurant in Hawaii has been forced to close after someone allegedly uploaded a video to Snapchat showing a rat being cooked on the grill.
The Teddy’s Bigger Burgers location in Mapunapuna was closed for emergency cleaning after two teenage employees posted the video on the popular social media app.
“We are horrified that a former teenage employee would conduct themselves in that way and make such a video of which we are investigating its authenticity,” said Richard Stula, president of the popular chain. The company immediately began a “complete sanitisation” on the branch and is doing a full replacement of utensils and equipment. The company is also getting in a pest control expert to clear the premises before it reopens.
“We will then send a corporate team in to inspect and complete a thorough audit of the location before it is allowed to re-open,” Stula said. “We are horrified a former employee would create something like this trying to destroy our reputation without regard for our 20-plus years of quality and aloha.”
