Foodstuffs North Island (the New Zealand-owned and operated co-operative that owns the Gilmours brand) has acquired JR Wholesale Meats.
The move was welcomed by JR Wholesale Meats and was described as a positive step forward for the company, its customers and suppliers.
“We’re excited about the opportunities to deliver a stronger, more integrated offering, backed by the same dedicated team and trusted service our customers know,” said Stanley Murphy, Managing Director.
Murphy said it will be business as usual, with no immediate changes, and that the focus is on making this transition smooth and seamless, with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.
This acquisition has strengthened Gilmours’ butchery capability, which is central to its strategy of offering everything B2B customers need, both in-store and online.
Cindy Chaimowitz, General Manager of Wholesale and Customer Services, said "acquiring JR Wholesale Meats allows us to deliver tailored meat cuts, competitive pricing, and reliable supply – all absolute priorities for our Wholesale customers.”
This marks an exciting milestone for JR Wholesale Meats and Gilmours’ wholesale journey.
