#Fanversary Celebration for Subway

#Fanversary

To celebrate 60 years, Subway has embarked on a nationwide search for its biggest fan to commemorate its #fanversary.

Global sandwich leader Subway is turning the big 6-0, and instead of blowing out candles on a cake, they’re lighting up a New Zealand-wide search to find their biggest fan and reward them in the only way that feels right, by offering free Subway for a decade.

Introducing #Fanversary; a celebration of Subway Footlong sub obsessions, quirky customisations, nostalgic lunch breaks and the flavour-filled memories that only Subway fans understand.

Subway New Zealand wants to see competition entries with passion, creativity, and a whole lot of flavour. Here’s how to get noticed if you think you have what it takes to be crowned their biggest fan.

Entrants must tell their story, sing a sub-inspired song, show off their Subway tattoo (or get a new one), drop a haiku, or film a TikTok tribute. The choice is up to them, video, photo or both, and creativity is a must.

It must then be uploaded to Instagram, TikTok or Facebook and tag Subway New Zealand on socials with the hashtag #Fanversary.

The #Fanversary competition opens on Monday, 4th August and closes in the early hours of Monday, 18 August 2025.

The winner and official Subway New Zealand's biggest fan will be crowned on the brand’s global 60th birthday, Thursday, 28 August 2025.

Director of Marketing for Subway Australia and New Zealand, Rodica Titeica, said Kiwi fans of the brand have even more reasons to celebrate, with Subway New Zealand also celebrating 30 years in Aotearoa in 2025.

“Subway’s heritage is deeply rooted in more than just sandwiches - it’s always been about the people; the loyal lunch break regulars, the cookie lovers, the Sandwich Artists, and the Subway fans,” Titeica said.

“We want to turn the spotlight on the legends who’ve loved us through every bite by celebrating the passion and personality they bring to the iconic Subway Footlong sub. Through #Fanversary, we’re giving every fan permission to share the beautiful, bold, and even downright brazen ways they express their love for Subway.”

From original songs to footlong tattoos, sub-themed decor, and everything in between, Titeica said that if entrants believe their love for Subway is bigger and better than most, we want to see it.

“Crowning our biggest fan and serving them with NZD 10k in prize money to eat Subway for a decade feels like the ultimate way to say a big footlong thank you.”

Since opening the first New Zealand restaurant in 1995, Subway has become a household name across the country, fuelling everything from family road trips to footy sideline lunches and first-job memories.

Throughout August, the brand’s global birthday month, Subway New Zealand will also be popping up across the country with surprise and delight cookie giveaways.
