Auckland’s first kava bar has begun exporting a bottled version of its drink. Pacific Roots Kava is produced in Mangere, at the FoodBowl Facility. The bottled version of the plant-based drink represents the first-ever bottle of ‘green kava’, a juice pressed from fresh kava roots.
According to the Pacific Roots Kava co-creator, Zbigniew Dumienski, 90 percent of the stock is being shipped to the USA for sale at kava bars. The bottled version will also be available at Four Shells in Auckland’s Victoria Park Markets, a store that Dumienski co-founded.
