EVERYBODY EATS LAUNCHES CROWDFUNDING

Everybody Eats, an award-winning dining concept that has been popping up at Gemmayze St on Auckland's K Road since June last year, has launched a crowdfunding campaign with PledgeMe in order to set up permanent pay as you feel restaurants across the country.

“The idea is that everybody can come,” says Everybody Eats founder Nicholas Loosley said of the ongoing pop-up. “We want everybody to feel comfortable regardless of whether they are paying or not. So, people simply come up to a tin and put money in it, nobody is watching or needs to facilitate this. The idea is that everybody gets exactly the same meal whether you’ve got lots of money to give, or no money. It makes people realise that we are all the same.”

The average donation is $15, with the highest being $150. Volunteers in the kitchen include chefs from Cazador, Mudbrick, Oyster Inn, SKYCITY and Ima Cuisine. The crowdfunding appeal aims to set up a permanent location with approximately $120,000 required to secure a lease, purchase a refrigerated van and complete a quick fit out to be open by Spring 2018.
