On the brink of a new year, Emma-Jane's has outlined the top trends for 2025, from different flavours to ingredient alternatives.
Remember our mention of our Director flying over to Anuga Food Fair in the 2024 year in review article? The Bi-Annual leading Tradeshow for Food and beverages… Well at Emma-Jane’s we had some huge takeaways of what is going to be the next “thing” in Foodservice. From tiny offerings for Canapes and Grazing tables to interesting flavours, see our predictions for the top trends of 2025 within the foodservice industry.
#1. A World of Flavour
In 2025 we are seeing a lot more breaking boundaries, this means that we can see the world's best current creativity being fused with others. Not everything has to be “out of this world” to make an impact in the world of Hospitality. Think of classic dishes worldwide and then fuse two flavours of different cultures! Japanese Mochi Donuts filled with a Mascarpone and coffee cream bringing both Japan and Italy together as one. We are also seeing the use of many Indian spices continuing to grow within the Western world, we think of the Chai Spices being used as a filling for the loved French Choux Pastry such as Profiteroles or Eclairs.
Using Emma-Jane’s Products, you could try a mix of French and Middle Eastern flavours. Think of the Crookie trends this year. Why not replace the cookie and try it with the well-loved Baklava? We can feel our taste buds drooling at the thought.
#2. Math and Food? The real pie-thagoras theorem
It's not a mystery that we constantly use our old-school math knowledge as adults. From knowing measurements for ingredients and being able to convert them to larger recipes, to calculating the perfect margin for each of our products. In food service, we might as well refer to ourselves as Einstein. What we really should be doing is using these common concepts in the food we serve, during 2025, we should see a rise in geometric shapes within our foods shown by creating stunning architectural beauty. In your cabinets you should see a stunning array of straight lines and perfectly positioned pastries, that look visually stunning and ultimately taste great. We also see a mash of colours in these designs to keep your beige offerings from looking plain. Emma-Jane’s offers a range of precise and stunning bases to keep your cabinet from looking dry, our raspberry-filled croissants are the perfect way to introduce these to your clientele.
#3. Guilt free pastries?
We know, we love a full-fat Butter croissant as well, but as the rise of fitness influencers keeps us on track with our diet, we need to stay with the times. One of our favourite things we saw when in Europe was all the Dietary information being displayed on menus, we noticed that a lot of the offerings that were picked came from the lower calorie and higher protein options. Being able to provide this on your menu will keep your customers from calculating their macros by themselves. Another great option is to introduce items on your menu specifically for these people. A high protein mousse within a gluten-free tart shell could be the perfect way to cater for fitness fanatics.
#4. The token Favour
2025 is set to be the year of giving, with many events offering a complimentary drink upon entry. Why not include a beautiful canape within these offerings? When you are creating your “drink of the night” think to include something that would pair well with this drink to give your event that extra flair. A small drink-inspired canape could be a great option to keep your event luxurious. A coffee Eclairs with an espresso Martini? Limoncello shot with a piece of mini Lemon Tart? A gin infused Rhubarb mousse within an edible spoon. The ideas are endless, so you can keep your event classy all while creating an experience.
As Kiwis, we should embrace these trends and bring them to New Zealand without waiting the usual two-year delay. Lead the way in innovation and stay ahead of the curve – you never know where it might take you. Ready to bring trends into New Zealand? Keep an eye out for Emma-Jane’s with their innovative range!
