An Auckland restaurant has come under fire for their cheeky dig at diners with “hipster allergies”. Satya Chai Lounge has its patrons divided after a Reddit user posted a picture of the menu, which includes a $5 “hipster allergies surcharge” online.
Owner of the restaurant, Samrudh Akuthota, defended his menu, labelling it as a joke. He said that they have never actually charged that, nor would they ever.
Despite Akuthota’s reassurance, people still managed to find offence, saying that it was making fun of allergies and that the surcharge was unnecessary.
