CONVENIENCE TRIUMPHS

Nearly 60 percent of foodservice occasions take place off-premise. A recent survey from the American National Restaurant Association highlights the importance of understanding the growing scope of the delivery, drive-thru and takeout ordering. They said, “Consumer lifestyles are continuously driven by the convenience and speed of online and app-based ordering in other industries.”

Hudson Riehle, the National Restaurant Association’s senior vice president for research and knowledge, said, “We are seeing the industry change and adapt faster than ever before in response to the macro-environmental factors driving consumer behaviour.”

The survey also found that 92 percent of the consumers used drive-thru at least once a month, 34 percent of the consumers used delivery more often than a year ago, and 79 percent of the consumers used restaurant delivery at least once a month.
