Smart Sips: Coca-Cola & Coca-Cola Europacific Partners have launched new AI-powered Coke&GO coolers across New Zealand.
Coca-Cola Oceania and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners New Zealand (CCEP NZ) are introducing consumers to the latest innovation in vending: Coke&GO, a new generation of smart coolers powered by Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Coke&GO coolers use cutting-edge AI and image recognition technology to offer a faster, smarter, and more personalised experience, catering to the dynamic, on-the go lifestyle of today’s consumer.
Following a successful trial in New Zealand last year, the rollout will expand to several hundred coolers nationwide across 2025 and 2026, making this one of largest Coke&GO fleets in the world.
With Coke&GO, consumers simply scan a QR code or tap a card to unlock the fridge door and grab their beverage. Image recognition technology identifies the product or products removed from the cooler, and the payment is processed.
"Coke&GO is a game-changer for how we think about vending. We’re combining smart technology with simplicity to create the best experience for consumers. It’s about making refreshment more intuitive, more accessible, and more aligned with how Kiwis live today," said Terry Burbidge, General Manager of Vending at CCEP NZ.
"Our involvement in the Coke&GO trial allowed us to explore how AI can enhance everyday interactions. The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. Students and staff appreciated the speed, ease, and the loyalty rewards. It’s a great example of thoughtful, innovative tech design,” said the Facilities Management Team of Victoria University of Wellington.
Coke&GO is the latest example of CCEP’s ongoing commitment to innovation in vending, focused on leveraging technology to make enjoying beverages on-the-go easier and more convenient than ever. This includes the deployment of smart inventory tracking that ensures machines and coolers are stocked with the right beverages at the right time, helping efficiency and reducing out of stocks. Vending machines also utilise a digital payment platform, Vendswift, which rewards loyal users for their vending purchases.
