Clearview Estate Winery’s Reserve Chardonnay is flying sky high! The flagship wine from the Te Awanga-based winery continues on its winning way, with inclusion in Air New Zealand’s 2017 ‘Fine Wines of New Zealand’ list the latest accolade.

The Fine Wines list features 60 of New Zealand’s most prestigious wines and from August, a selection of the list will be offered to the airline’s business premier customers alongside the regular inflight wine list.

“We’re absolutely delighted,” says Tim Turvey, co-founder and original winemaker. “To be selected by New Zealand’s leading masters of wines and master sommelier for such a flagship New Zealand company is hugely gratifying.”

From a marketing perspective, the selection was very important, according to Helma van den Berg, Clearview Estate co-founder, who along with Mr Turvey, hand grafted and planted the original Chardonnay vines that still provide most of the fruit for the wine.

“Getting onto the list means establishing a long-term partnership with Air New Zealand.  As well as helping to promote our brand onboard, the wine will be marketed by Air New Zealand at its offshore events and promoted to contacts globally, which will increase our international brand exposure.”

The Fine Wines of New Zealand programme is now in its second year and Air New Zealand acts as patron. It aims to celebrate and showcase the finest wines in New Zealand. The list was compiled by Masters of Wine Alistair Maling, Michael Brajkovich, Sam Harrop, Simon Nash and Steve Smith along with Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas.
