Celebrating National Fried Chicken Day

National Fried Chicken Day is the 6th of July and this is how some of New Zealand's restaurants are celebrating.

Dirty Little Secret's menu features a selection of finger-licking fried chook dishes including OG crispy fried tender, a phat burger or fried chicken bowl.

If quality and quantity is more your style, then go no further than Jack Hackett’s and Four kings – both pubs are locked, loaded and ready for peckish Wellingtonians, offering two hours of bottomless wings. A sure-fire way to test your hen-durance.

Down the road at The Cambridge, a plate of fried chicken is on the house when you buy a drink after 5pm or try the im-peck-ably good two-for-one Korean fried chicken at The Old Balley. Glazed in scrumptious sticky sauce, it’s a dish (and a deal) to get egg-cited about.

Don’t worry, Auckland – Viaduct hotspot Dr Rudi’s has just the cure for you, with a two-hour window to fill your boots (and stomachs) with bottomless wings. Sauced to perfection – choices from BBQ, hot or ghost pepper hot.

If that’s not enough, fly down the road to Britomart hangout The Chamberlain to check out their brand new Tasty as Cluck menu. Choose your weapon of choice – a breast, wing, thigh, drum, tender fillet (or even one of each) – served with sliced bread and pickles, at the heat of your choice! Then there’s a stack of sandwiches, salads and sides including chipotle mac and cheese, mash and chicken gravy and spicy fries. So good it’s like poultry in motion.

Taking it to another level is cult chicken joint Winner Winner where punters can buy one get on free on all fried chicken baskets. Catch the return of their infamous spicy Korean fried chicken for one week only (5th – 11th) or pay a visit to their Takapuna and Wellington stores on Friday 9th July and Pukekohe on Wednesday 7th July, for two hours of bottomless fried chicken and Garage Project tap beer.
