Brown Brothers has announced that its esteemed 2018 Patricia Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Brut has clinched the top honour for Best Sparkling Wine in Australia at the prestigious 2025 Halliday Awards.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for excellence, the 2018 Brown Brothers Patricia Pinot Noir & Chardonnay Brut captivated the judges with its elegant balance, vibrant flavours, and distinctive character. This accolade marks a significant achievement for Brown Brothers, reaffirming its commitment to producing wines of unparalleled quality and distinction.
This award acknowledged the exceptional craftsmanship and dedication of Brown Brothers' senior winemaker, Cate Looney, whose visionary leadership has propelled this sparkling wine to remarkable acclaim.
Celebrated as the Winemaker of the Year by Australian Women in Wine in 2020, Looney has been instrumental in shaping the Brown Brothers’ range with her innovative approach and expertise. Her leadership and creative vision have set a benchmark in the wine industry, inspiring admiration and setting new standards for sparkling wine production in Australia.

“The 2018 vintage was considered a warm year but we source our fruit from the Whitland’s plateau where we are buffered from the hotter conditions and can retain exceptional acidity in our sparkling fruit. It certainly was not an easy vintage for sparkling wine, but we have great access to exceptional fruit.”
