Broke Boy Taco has announced a partnership with DoorDash to meet the growing customer demand for birria ramen.

Viral sensation Broke Boy Taco has partnered exclusively with on-demand delivery platform DoorDash to meet Auckland's growing demand for its birria ramen, crispy tortillas and irresistible cheese pulls. From Tuesday 3rd December, and every Taco Tuesday thereafter, fans can skip the queues and order the best birria in town direct to their door.

From pop-ups to permanent digs in Mt Albert, Kentucky-born Broke Boy Taco founder, Sean Yarbrough, has captivated the Auckland food scene with his unapologetic authenticity and bold, vibrant flavours.

The story of Broke Boy Taco is one of grit and resilience. Shaped by personal hardships, it's in the name, with Broke Boy reflecting the reality of his journey. But driven by a desire to create something unique and meaningful for the Auckland community, a gap was spotted, and the vision took shape.

Auckland locals were quick to jump on board, with the Broke Boy Taco Instagram achieving viral status, the eatery amassed a cult following of taco-obsessed Aucklanders lining down the street to get their fix.

This exclusive partnership with DoorDash New Zealand marks a major milestone for Yarbrough, extending the restaurant experience to more Kiwis.

“When DoorDash approached me, my answer was ‘Hell Yeah.’ Any chef’s dream is for everybody to try their food, this is just the first step in taking Broke Boy Taco across the whole country,” said Yarbrough.

“A million people have asked me to do delivery since opening, but I wanted to make sure it was done right.”

Yarbrough sait that the platform was committed to furthering his business.

“DoorDash just got it and genuinely wanted to help me grow, making sure Broke Boy delivered will be just as good as you get at the shop. They took the time to understand who I am and why Broke Boy means so much to me — I can’t wait to see where we go next,” said Yarbrough.

“I spent 11 years in the Mission in San Francisco, where I was lucky enough to learn from some incredible Mexican chefs. These tacos are my love letter to those people and to Mexico. It's an honour to cook a dish from another culture and to do it well,” he continued.

Broke Boy Taco will be available for delivery via DoorDash every Tuesday, straight out of its Mt Albert store. With delivery to suburbs within a seven km radius of the store, including Mount Albert, Kingsland, Sandringham, Mount Eden and Balmoral.

“DoorDash is proud to champion local legends serving great food and inspiring stories across New Zealand,” said Bradley Thomas, General Manager of DoorDash New Zealand.

“Sean’s passion is undeniable and he’s built a genuine community through Broke Boy Taco. We’re thrilled to announce this exclusive partnership, working alongside him to bring more birria to more Kiwis.”

To celebrate the partnership, Broke Boy Taco is introducing a mouth-watering limited edition menu item, available exclusively on the DoorDash app. Fans can get hyped about Broke Boy Taco’s take on the San Francisco-style burrito, a perfect blend of tender birria, cheese, rice, beans and fresh pico de gallo complete with Broke Boy’s signature consommé and homemade orange sauce.

The launch marks the first wave of this exciting partnership.
