AUSTRALIA | Bladnoch has launched new eight and 16 year old single malt whiskies to its range in the Australian market.
Bladnoch, Scotland's oldest privately-owned Scotch whisky distillery has released eight-year-old and 16-year-old single malt whiskies to the Australian market.
Bladnoch eight-year-old has been matured in two different cask styles one after the other to achieve a complex flavour profile. Natural in colour and with an ABV of 46.7 percent, the eight-year-old draws its flavour from two types of American oak red wine casks, creating a rich single malt which presents strawberries and cream with herbal pinecones on the nose, strawberry jam, polished oak and nutmeg on the palate, and a very long, sugary and warm finish.
Also launching to the Australian market is the distillery's recently unveiled Bladnoch 16 Year Old. Matured exclusively in oloroso sherry casks, Bladnoch 16 Year Old is bottled at 46.7 percent ABV and offers hints of wood spices, rich raisins, sultanas and orange peel on the nose, with a palate of raisins, dried fruits and rich fruit cake with sweet cinnamon and chocolate.
The 16-year-old whisky has been expertly handcrafted by Bladnoch master distiller Dr Nick Savage and his team, drawing on the treasure chest of casks maturing in the distillery's 208-year-old bluestone warehouses in the Lowland whisky region of Scotland.
These enhancements to Bladnoch's exceptional Lowland whiskies, which are now being rolled out globally, are part the distillery's continued growth since being acquired by businessman David Prior in 2015, the first Australian to own a Scotch whisky distillery.
