Another COVID Casualty

One of Auckland’s best restaurants, Euro, has revealed it is closing it doors, with owners blaming the impacts of COVID-19.

The Princes Wharf restaurant confirmed the sad news today on social media.

"This week we have made the extremely difficult decision to keep Euro closed. The ongoing challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past 18 months have meant that it is no longer sustainable to reopen, despite doing everything in our power to do so.”

One of the Auckland Viaduct's original businesses, Euro Bar and Restaurant responded to the ‘adapt or die’ mantra with a change of pace last year, serving a more informal, less fine dining offering.

The restaurant has been a bit of an institution in the Auckland culinary scene, with top chefs such as Simon Gault working there over the years.
