A piglet café opens in Japan

Tokyo’s Meguro ward just got a little cuter—Mipig, a piglet café has opened. The new café aims to promote pigs as animals as opposed to livestock and looks to draw customers in with their appeal to cuteness.

Mipig received overwhelming support through a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than double it’s original goal of around two million yen (around NZD 27,000). In a statement, the founders of Mipig said, “We would like Japanese people to feel more familiar with the animal and eventually become a beloved member of the family.”

Apparently, cat cafés are getting an upgrade.
