Chicken McNuggets were a hot topic on New Zealand social media during lockdown as Kiwis lamented the highly craved menu item. McDonald’s NZ knows 2020 has already been a challenging year, and now, they’re offering one million free Chicken McNuggets for one day only to share some love with Macca’s fans.
The giveaway was previously delayed due to COVID-19 health and safety requirements in August, but Kiwis now have the green light to get their hands on a six-pack of delicious Chicken McNuggets tomorrow by downloading the McDonald’s app and redeeming the digital voucher in-store or in the drive-thru, with no purchase required.
Chicken McNuggets are made with 100% New Zealand chicken breast raised in the Waikato region and coated in crispy tempura. Chicken McNuggets have been made by Ingham’s since 1985, and are prepared using the most modern processing equipment.
“Ingham’s have provided the quality chicken used in McDonald’s McNuggets from day one. We are pleased to be working with McDonald’s to continue to deliver the millions of top quality chicken products Kiwis have come to know and love,” said Jonathan Gray, CEO Ingham’s Chicken New Zealand.
Macca’s annual chicken order equates to just over 3.75 million tonnes, all of which is reared by 30 farmers based in the Waikato region. It’s then delivered to Ingham’s Te Aroha and Auckland facilities where the McNuggets Kiwis know, and love are made.
“It became clear during lockdown that Chicken McNuggets are a firm favourite, so we decided to shout Kiwis a six-pack and celebrate 35-years of love for them,” said McDonald’s Managing Director Dave Howse.
“We’re proud of our longstanding supplier relationships, and to offer Kiwis Chicken McNuggets raised in our own backyard.”
The free Chicken McNuggets will be available via the app for one day only.
