Paraparaumu Beach restaurant 50-50 has been nominated as a finalist for the Felix Wellington Hospitality Awards - the only hospitality business in Kapiti to make the finals.

A participant in the Nove Energy Outstanding Regional Establishment category, alongside Boneface Brewing Company, Parrotdog and Pinnochio Greytown, the category awards everything on point: food, drink, service, and venue.

Tucked away on Maclean Street, 50-50 is a unique restaurant that aims to help define what modern New Zealand cuisine looks like.

Owned and operated by chef Helen Turnbull, she puts her heart and soul into every plate, and each dish sings with the songs she’s sung whilst creating it.

Turnbull returned to Wellington after a decade abroad, toiling in Tokyo, rising to Gordon Ramsay’s challenges and opening Josh Emett’s Rata Restaurant in Queenstown.

The peer-nominated Felix awards provide an opportunity for the hospitality industry to come together and support local businesses.

Turnbull is honoured to be recognised by her peers considering all the other amazing establishments in the Wellington area.
