33 South, the latest restaurant in midtown Auckland, has celebrated the flavours, landscapes and ingredients of New Zealand.
Radisson RED Auckland has announced the opening of 33 South, a vibrant new dining destination that brings the flavours, creativity and hospitality of New Zealand to the heart of midtown in Auckland, opening its doors on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.
Located in the lobby level of Radisson RED Auckland at 33 Lorne Street, 33 South is a contemporary restaurant inspired by New Zealand’s diverse landscapes, rich produce, and vibrant food culture. Drawing on seasonal ingredients sourced from across the country, the restaurant offers a dining experience that is proudly rooted in place, while embracing bold, modern flavours. From casual breakfast catch-ups, working lunches to after-work drinks, celebrations and relaxed dinners, the space is designed to evolve throughout the day, creating an ever-welcoming destination for Aucklanders, visitors and hotel guests alike.
Drawing inspiration from New Zealand's landscapes, the restaurant pairs natural textures and warm materials with bold contemporary touches, creating a space that feels both distinctly New Zealand and unmistakably RED. That same philosophy extends beyond the design, shaping every aspect of the guest experience. 33 South embodies Radisson RED Auckland's vision of creating experiences that celebrate creativity, culture and connection. Just as the hotel draws inspiration from Auckland's arts scene and creative energy, the restaurant showcases New Zealand's culinary identity through bold flavours, local ingredients and a contemporary dining experience designed to bring people together.
The restaurant is led by Chef Mo Arun, whose three decades of culinary experience across New Zealand and the Pacific have shaped a menu inspired by local ingredients and regional flavours.
The menu has showcased premium ingredients sourced from across New Zealand, from Southland wild venison and Canterbury pork to sustainably sourced seafood and native herbs, including horopito and kawakawa.
Signature dishes are complemented by an extensive selection of New Zealand wines and creative cocktails with a distinctly Kiwi twist, crafted using premium New Zealand spirits from Scapegrace, Cardrona Distillery and Pōkeno Whisky, alongside ingredients such as mānuka honey, feijoa, kiwifruit and locally sourced botanicals. Every sip reflects the same philosophy as the kitchen: celebrating provenance, seasonality and the unique flavours of New Zealand.
“We wanted to create a menu that celebrates the exceptional local ingredients we have across Aotearoa and combine them with the influences from across the Pacific to create dishes that are bold, seasonal and full of character. It’s a celebration of Aotearoa’s food story,” said Chef Mo Arun.
"At Radisson RED, we believe the best experiences happen when people come together, and 33 South has been created with exactly that in mind," said Reinout Engel, General Manager of Radisson RED Auckland.
"It's not just somewhere to eat, it's a place to meet, work, celebrate, unwind and discover. From bold local flavours and carefully curated wines to vibrant design and a welcoming atmosphere, every detail has been crafted to reflect Auckland's creative energy. Whether you're staying with us or simply looking for your new favourite neighbourhood spot, 33 South invites everyone to experience a fresh, social way to dine."
With its focus on provenance, seasonality and contemporary hospitality, 33 South is the new destination for both travellers and locals seeking a true taste of New Zealand.
