RETURN OF THE ROSÉ

Waipara Hills have released their highly anticipated 2019 Pinot Noir Rosé. Waipara Hills have high expectations following the success of their 2018 vintage, which won four trophies and was described as the ‘hottest Rosé on the market’. Waipara Hills believe that the 2019 certainly has the potential, as the two wines are stylistically similar, with perhaps a slight advantage in the 2019’s increased complexity.

Despite the wet weather, which decreased the crop size of 2019, the concentration of the fruit was increased. The proceeding summer and autumn ripened the fruit beautifully, and when coupled with the forgiving harvesting weather, the arriving fruit was pristine. The majority of the grapes came from the Home Block vineyard that sits behind the Waipara Hills Cellar Door, and the Deans vineyard further down the road.

“We are able to retain great acid in the fruit from these sites, particularly in the 10/5 Clone of Pinot Noir which makes up 60 percent of the blend. This imparts a lively crunch on the palate, which is what we were gunning for stylistically,” said Andrew Brown, Waipara Hills winemaker. “This Rosé is crisp, bright and juicy. I can’t wait for the arrival of barbeque weather, so I can sit outside to enjoy this blushing pink beauty.”
