WORLD’S FASTEST FOOD

It’s not long after being seated at Guadalajara’s Karne Garibaldi restaurant that customers will be served a steaming plate of carne en su jugo (meat in its juice). The restaurant holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest ever food service, with waiters laying out a full menu in just 13.5 seconds. “It began as a game between the waiters to see who could bring the food to each table the fastest,” said manager Daniel Flores. Twenty years after setting that record, the waiters still pride themselves on the speed of service and most customers will find their food has arrived within one minute of ordering. It does help that the carne en su jugo, a regional specialty, the only main course on the menu. The beans used in the dish are so popular that Karne Garibaldi, having only six branches, sells them in tinned form in supermarkets all across Mexico.
