Valentine’s Day windfall for hospo

It seems dining out is the number one activity for Valentine’s Day, with the expected spend for the hospitality industry expected to be in excess of $3.5 million.

Data from Marketview shows the amount spent on hospitality on Valentine’s Day in 2018 was $3.18 million, which grew by 18.1 percent on Valentine’s Day 2018 when compared to 2017.

“There are few big occasions in the year for restaurants and Valentine’s Day is definitely one of them,” said Restaurant Association CEO Marisa Bidois. “The amount we are spending dining out to show our love is growing each year which shows just how important the hospitality industry is in nurturing our special relationships. Spare a thought for the chefs, wait staff and restaurant owners who are working hard today in this heat to make your Valentine’s Day extra special.”
