TURNING THE HEAT UP

Night Noodle Markets, the popular hawker-style pop-up food festival, is returning this summer to Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.

“The Night Noodle Markets is growing in popularity every year and this season marks the fourth year putting on the event for New Zealanders,” said David Blackwell, Stuff events operations manager. “We’re excited to be bringing Kiwis more of what they love this time around.”

With free entry, visitors can buy everything from fusion dumplings, fresh-off-the-grill BBQ skewers, poké bowls and desserts. As well as fan-favourites Hoy Pinoy and Gelato Messina, Bangkok Street Thai and Bao Brother’s Eatery join the line-up of international vendors bringing fresh and exciting dishes to our cities. More than 380,000 people attended the last events in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, with as many as 30 percent coming from outside the events’ central areas.

Last season, simple initiatives such as introducing eco-packaging and new waste management systems saw 74 per cent of the 58 tonnes of waste generated from the three events diverted from landfill.

“It’s all shaping up to be a great event, but it’s not just about the vendors and new venues,” he said. “We’re welcoming some exciting new event partners, including Moa Beer and Crafters Union wines (Constellation Brands NZ) with their innovative canned beverages, and Singapore Airlines with their crowd-pleasing Top Chopsticks award.”
