Nic Watt’s Auckland wellness centre True Food Yoga, which was placed in liquidation at the end of February, owes creditors around $2.4 million. The liquidator, Tony Maginness of Staples Rodway, said there were two potential buyers, and he was confident that a deal would go through by the end of next week.
A fair portion of this total comes from payments to employees. According to the liquidators report, the company owes 22 employees $38,901 in wages and holiday pay as well as owing Inland Revenue $43,320.
The centre was opened in 2016 at the site of the old Hammerhead’s restaurant in Orakei Bay. "True is based on our true story,” Watt said when True Food Yoga opened. “It combines what we do at home, our love of good, natural and nutrition-dense food, our own yoga and healthy practice.” Watt and his wife Kelly, a qualified yoga teacher who ran the venture, split in July last year.
