Toi Toi wins large in Sydney

Toi Toi Marlborough Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2018 has been awarded the Perpetual Trophy for best Sauvignon Blanc at the 39th Sydney International Wine Competition 2019 this week.

“This is testament to our team’s dedication to make food friendly and approachable wines that are best enjoyed with friends and family,” said owners Kevin and Sarah Joyce. “A big vote of thanks to our viticulturists, winemakers and all our team that have made this award possible.”

The 13 strong judging team included five Masters of Wine and a range of wine educators, winemakers and wine enthusiasts that tasted 2,000 wines over five days at Wentworth Falls. The show originated to bring innovative winemakers together, who were trialling new cool climate varieties, and to see which wines would complement well with food. The chosen dish this year for Sauvignon Blanc was Asparagus and Mushroom Risotto, as presented by chef Michael Manners.

“We dodged a bullet with the rains around harvest and held our nerve to harvest the grapes at optimum flavours and maturity,” said winemaker Tim Adams. “It was a difficult growing season but we were very pleased with the work done in the vineyards to provide us with such premium fruit.”
