THE UNDISPUTED RIESLING CHAMPION

Giesen Wines has achieved its seventh consecutive listing in the Top 50 at the annual New World Wine Awards. Giesen is now the winemaker with the most awarded wine variety in the competition’s history.

In 2017, Giesen set the record after winning a gold medal for their Giesen Estate Riesling for five consecutive years, a first at the New World Wine Awards. The Estate Riseling has held Top 50 status since 2013, just missing out in 2018. However, in 2018, the Giesen Gemstone Riesling received a New World Gold Medal and was listed amongst the Top 50.

“Giesen has a wonderful focus and commitment to Riesling,” said Giesen’s chief winemaker, and four-time winner of NZ Winemaker of the Year, Nikolai St George. “We punch well above our weight and sell more Riesling in New Zealand than any other producer. We have been making Riesling since the brothers’ first vintage from Canterbury in 1984, and over the years we’ve created an extensive Riesling portfolio with multiple styles and regions.”
