The developers of the new Tauranga Crossing complex have announced the list of restaurants and eateries scheduled to open in the centre next April. The upper level, known as The Observatory, will introduce a selection of firsts to the Bay of Plenty.
Celebrated restaurateur Fleur Caulton and renowned chef Josh Emett will open their first restaurant in the Bay, bringing Hawker & Roll to The Observatory at Tauranga Crossing.
“When considering locations for Hawker & Roll, the Bay of Plenty region felt like a natural fit because there is so much growth happening in the area,” said Caulton. “Tauranga Crossing is positioned to become a leading destination for international retail brands, which we’re really excited to be a part of.”
The Observatory will also include the first Bird on a Wire outside of Auckland, and the first Cantina de Mad Mex in New Zealand.

The Garden Eateries will provide a more casual dining experience in an internal and external garden setting, featuring a variety of cuisine from around the world. Several eateries will be new to Tauranga including Epiphany Cafe, Krung Thep Thai Street Food, Otto’s, Happy Valley and Kiwi Grill, and they will be joined by well-known names like Shamiana, Tank Juice Bar and KFC.
“The level of interest shown in Tauranga, and in particular Tauranga Crossing, by these renowned parties reflects the confidence the wider market has in the region,” said Tauranga Crossing CEO Steve Lewis. “Food and entertainment is becoming an increasingly important part of the experience customers are seeking, and this eclectic and vibrant mix of restaurants and eateries is going to add a new dimension to the centre and Tauranga in general.”
