TARANAKI GIN CLAIMS TOP AWARD

Taranaki’s Juno Gin have been awarded the highest possible honour at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition by winning a Double Gold medal for their label design. Double gold is designated for the very few entries that receive gold medal ratings from every judge in the competition. These select entries are considered "among the finest products in the world"—a big achievement for a New Zealand brand that just launched last year.

"Hearing this news was absolute elation!" said Jo James, co-owner of Juno Gin along with her husband Dave James. "We have had so much great feedback about our label and bottle, including at New Zealand's Best Design Awards, so when the announcement came through it was all high-fives. To be the best of the best is extraordinary. We also want to pass on congratulations to Craig Jones of Strategy Collective who designed the label.

Last week Juno also won a silver medal at the competition for their signature range Extra Fine gin. These awards are judged via blind taste tests and the silver medal places Juno amongst the best examples of their category, showing “refinement, finesse and complexity".

"I love gin and working with flavours,” explained James. “The goal right from the start of our Juno journey was to produce an extraordinary, world-class gin. We are really proud of the gin and to be acknowledged on the world stage is truly heart-warming and affirming."

On top of their Extra Fine gin, Juno also produce limited edition seasonal gins, of which they plan to select the most popular to put forward as entries to next year’s San Francisco competition.
