STUDENT CHEFS SET TO FACE OFF

Hospitality students from around the country are preparing for this year’s Nestlé Toque d’Or competition, getting ready to go head-to-head to claim the title. The event is considered to be the premium competition for emerging culinary talent.

The live kitchen cook-off has been fiercely contended for the last 27 years, and was last year won by a team from the Universal College of Learning. Each team consists of two culinary and one restaurant service students.

The teams must prepare and serve six covers of a three course meal with a set timeframe and are marked against World Chef’s criteria.

This year’s event will be held at the Auckland Showgrounds on July 27.
