PUMPKIN SPICE BEER IS HERE

IHOP Pumpkin spice stout next to a plate of pumpkin spice pancakes

U.S. chain restaurant IHOP has announced the release of its first beer: The IHOPS Pumpkin Pancake Stout. This limited-edition craft beer is brewed by Keegan Ales, and pairs seasonal, autumnal flavours – pumpkin and spices – with a hint of IHOP’s buttermilk pancakes.

Keegan Ales is the producer of the top ten stouts in North America, according to the New York Times. It collaborated with IHOP to work the breakfast brand’s signature buttermilk pancake batter mix with ingredients for a stout.

"Every year, our guests eagerly await the return of our seasonal pancakes: Pumpkin Spice, Cinn-A-Stack, and a new combination of the two this year, Pumpkin Cinn-A-Stacks,” said Brad Haley, chief marketing officer at IHOP, in a statement. "Our advertising agency suggested that those same ingredients that make our fall pancakes so delicious would also make a great tasting beer, and we wholeheartedly agreed,” he said.

Keegan Ales was also pleased with the project, with founder Tommy Keegan commenting that this brew is the first of its kind. It launched at the fifth annual Bacon and Beer Classic in New York last week. "Being able to showcase it at the Bacon and Beer Classic was the perfect launch pad — nothing elevates breakfast or bacon better than pancakes. Now fans can get the taste of IHOP's famous fall pancakes in a beer,” said Keegan.

The stout is a limited run.
