PUB CHAIN BANS JÄGERBOMBS

National UK pub chain JD Wetherspoon’s has announced that it will no longer sell Jägerbombs from September 26, citing Brexit as the reason behind the change.

“This is a significant move by us and highlights our commitment to offering an excellent range of UK and world products, with the emphasis on quality and value for the two million customers who visit our pubs each week,” said Tim Martin, chairman and founder of the chain. However, Martin is a Brexit fan, and took aim at those opposed to exiting the EU. “In reality, there is no cliff-edge, only sunlit uplands beyond the EU’s protectionist system of quotas and tariffs. All EU products have UK or non-EU replacements, often at equal or better quality and price.”

The chain has already swapped out Champagne for sparkling wines from other countries and has stopped supplying German wheat beers in place of UK equivalents.
