PINK CALLS OUT AUCKLAND BAR

After performing seven shows in Auckland US pop star Pink took to the town last night, but it was not all smooth sailing for the Grammy-winner.

“Man I’ve been to some cool bars around the world, and Dead shot [sic] on Ponsonby road is not one of them,” she wrote on Twitter, accompanying the message with a ‘thumbs down’ emoji.

Deadshot is a speakeasy-style on Ponsonby Road run by the same group as Caretaker in Auckland’s Viaduct. Manager Heather Garland responded to the criticism by the singer, saying that it was "pretty tough for a small business to get this kind of press” and denying that Pink had visited the bar.

"We actually didn't see Pink at all, but we would have loved to have her in,” she said. "We did have some of her crew come in a couple of nights this week. They were lovely and we had a great time with them. Unfortunately as we are a very small seated service cocktail bar we just didn't have enough space for the 30 people who showed up for an after party. We usually only take groups of six or less."

Garland said that someone from Pink’s group had called the bar ahead of time but had it explained to them that the bar could not accommodate such a group, and recommended other locations.

"It's a bit of a shame she wanted to Tweet this to her fans but there's not a lot we can do about it."

The story did have a happy ending, with Pink enjoying her time at Revelry, located just across the road.

“I found the perfect place in Auckland,” she wrote on Instagram. “They were closing when we came in, but the bartender had a fire lit and booze to sell so he welcomed all 16 of us to celebrate the end of a truly magical journey through New Zealand. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for showing all of us (including my dad and stepmom who flew from Philadelphia) the best time of our lives. Smitten."
