Phil’s Place to close

Phil’s Place, AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd’s restaurant in Tauranga will be closing on May 5th. Following that, the restaurant will be rebranded as Salinity Restaurant & Bar. The news was broken via the Phil’s Place Facebook page, where they said, “This is a huge thank you to all of you that have followed and supported Phil’s Place Restaurant since we re-opened on 10th April 2013. As from 5th May, Phil’s Place will be closing to be rebranded as Salinity Restaurant and Bar. Thank you again from all the management and staff.”

Rudd, who has lived in Tauranga for many years, first opened Phil’s Place in September of 2011. Phil’s Place came under scrutiny in July of 2012 and ended up closing for almost a year after a dispute resulting in three staff members beings fired. Rudd has appeared on all but three of AC/DC’s 18 studio albums.
