ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK POP-UP RESTAURANT

Diners in Singapore will soon be able to visit an Orange is the New Black inspired pop-up restaurant that recreates the show’s Litchfield Penitentiary cafeteria.

“Come meet your fellow inmates, wait in line and stay hydrated with a tall plastic cup of our refreshing house beverage: water,” said the restaurant on a popular reservation site.

The restaurant will be open this week for two days (16-17 June) in-line with the fourth season of the Netflix show launch.

Diners shouldn’t be worried that prison food will be served, the marquee menu item will be Nutraloaf (an item featured on the show) – but chef Bjorn Shen’s version will be a gourmet rendition made with mushrooms, cheddar, quinoa, pumpkin, seaweed and truffle oil.

Frozen corn kernels are the side menu item of choice made with spiced butters, jalapenos, cheese and lime.

And for dessert? A white chocolate and coconut rice pudding with an almond crumble, a dish unlikely served within prison walls.
