NOVEMBER MEANS NEW POTATOES

The Potatoes New Zealand ‘November Means New Potatoes’ event, held recently in Auckland, was a unique opportunity for the foodservice industry to meet with a handful of growers in one room. Balle Bros, WilcoxTurners & GrowersGropak and Oakleys were all present, affording unprecedented access to foodservice professionals. Attendees were able to to talk to each of the growers, taste their new season spuds and learn more about their story.

“The Fresh Space was the perfect venue for the evening,” said Potatoes New Zealand Training and Education Manager Zealand Kate Underwood. “We would like to thank everyone involved for their support and for sharing the love of potatoes.”

Strategic partners 5+ A Day were also present, working with Potatoes New Zealand on its current promotion with 5+ A Day Ambassadors Julia and Libby Matthews also in attendance. Catering was provided by Jess’ Underground Kitchen, who created a range of potato-centric canapes showcasing new season spuds. Double Dutch Fried also impressed with their hand-cut agria potatoes.

November is set to be a busy month for Potatoes New Zealand, with television advertisements and a social media campaign planned for November Means New Potatoes.
