Nice Baps, a container café that was recently voted the best restaurant in Cornwall and has played host to countless celebrities over the years, has won a battle against a conservative local church who objected to their name.
“We had thousands and thousands of people offering support,” said owner Kevin Baker. “Laura named it. We have nice 5in flour baps. They’re buns, not a degrading name for breasts. We’re delighted common sense prevailed.”
The parish councillors objected to the name, saying that it had “no place in society.” The councillors lodged a complaint with the local council over licensing laws. However, the council said that the complaints had now been dropped and the licensing hearing, which had been scheduled for December, had been cancelled.
The container café has attracted so much attention, even by former Prime Minister David Cameron, that UK coffee giant Costa Coffee has tried three times to buy it out.
