The winner of the first ever Auckland East Imperial Gin Jubilee has been revealed as Haans Mayer of Golden Dawn, Ponsonby.
Mayer beat out a 32-strong competition from bars around the city to take home the Silver Tankard, awarded for Auckland’s best Gin & Tonic. The winner was decided by Instagram votes, with Mayer’s concoction taking the majority of the 1,500 votes submitted.
Mayer’s Gin & Tonic, ‘Resplendent Rouge,’ included unique flavours of orange marmalade and sherry.
Runner-up was awarded to The Gin Room’s ‘Sacred Cloud’ by Cameron Attfield and third place to Sammy Akuthota of Sandringham’s Satya Chai Lounge.
