MCDONALD’S NOT LOVIN’ KIDS IN SCHOOL UNIFORM

A McDonald’s restaurant in Queensland has banned students wearing school uniforms during school hours. McDonald’s Elanora, in the Southern Gold Coast, has posted a sign in the window outlining the ban.

“Any student in school uniform will not be served between the hours of 9am – 3pm,” the sign reads. “This is as per your schools request.”

The franchisees and schools in the area are remaining silent on the issue, although the move could be tied to rising truancy rates in the Elanora and Palm Beach region, which are up to two per cent lower than the state average.

A spokesperson from McDonald’s New Zealand said that they were not aware of any similar policies existing in New Zealand.
