A McDonald’s employee who was sent home after showing up late to his first day took advantage of his free time by robbing another McDonald’s with his brother, also a McDonald’s employee.

The 19-year-old employee of the unidentified McDonald’s on the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas, was late to his first day of employment and was subsequently sent home. He then went to another location less than 10km away and said he had been sent there to help for the day. As he was taken to the back office to fill in paperwork, he pulled out a gun and demanded cash, leaving with around US$1500.

The suspect was recognised almost immediately through security camera footage and had previously asked the manager at the initial location about security cameras and store protocol if it was to get robbed. After a brief car chase, the suspect was arrested along with his brother – a five-year employee of the chain.
