Madam Woo Dunedin

Co-owners of Mayfare Group Ltd, Josh Emett and Fleur Caulton opened a third Madam Woo in Dunedin mid September.
The pair opened their first Madam Woo in Queenstown in 2013 and quickly realised that the fresh and unique concept would translate well to any location they chose to take it. Caulton believes Dunedin is an exciting step for the company.
“Josh and I both love the vibe of Dunedin, it has history and a real sense of itself but it’s also progressive and has a great energy and artistic component that we think will really embrace Madam Woo,” she said.
Inspired by authentic Malaysian food, many of the Madam Woo dishes have come from recipes handed down through generations of family and shared by Madam Woo chefs to become part of the Madam Woo story. Designed to appeal equally to patrons who crave a fast, fresh and healthy bite for lunch or those who want to indulge in a banquet with friends, the Madam Woo experience has a focus on broad appeal.
“Madam Woo is authentic and genuine cuisine, it is not trend-driven, it is honest and delicious and just the food that both Fleur and I love to eat,” Michelin starred chef, Emett, well known for his role as a judge on Masterchef New Zealand said.
The drinks list maintains the pair’s nod to authenticity. There is no espresso machine on site, instead offering traditional Vietnamese drip coffee and Chinese loose leaf teas. Cocktails are a large part of the Madam Woo experience and the list is made up of a mix of re-visited classics and fresh originals inspired by the flavours of Malaysia.
