LEADERS JOIN INDUSTRY HALL OF FAME

HOSPITALITY NZ’s Hall of Fame has four new names this month as industry leaders work in the business was recognised. HNZ named the newcomers as Kevin Schwass, Judith Tabron, John Hellebrekers and Maureen Gordon. Schwass began as a Lion Breweries trainee manager and later owned or leased a number of hotels as well as nightclubs, bars and restaurants.

Hellebrekers is best known for his role as managing director of Barworks that now owns 22 bars mainly in the greater Auckland area. Maureen Gordon , now in her eighties, has been the publican of the King’s Arms in Auckland’s Newton for the past 29 years and is still in the business today. Judith Tabron who won a reputation as the owner of Ramses restaurant in Newmarket now has the iconic Soul Bar & Restaurant in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.
