KFC’S DRIVE-THROUGH-ONLY STORE

Newcastle in Australia is set to receive a KFC that is drive-through-only—a world-first for the chain. The pilot project will have five lanes from which to order from, that will incorporate new drive-through technology to streamline efficiency.

This is another example of restaurants responding to the demand for tech and efficiency. KFC said that their engagement with customers through their app has been doubling each year for the last five years. This has provided KFC with enough incentive to develop other ways in which to appeal to its consumers. The new drive-through will allow customers to order and pay for their meal through the app, or via the KFC website prior to arrival. In addition to the digital-only lanes, there will also be a face-to-face ordering lane for those looking for the ‘authentic drive-through experience’.

The new concept store is set to open sometime in November.
