KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY

Continuing the growth of Babich Wines, André Babich joins his father, uncle, cousin and colleagues in the family business following 18 years with Macquarie Capital. André joins in the role of Principal with a focus on key projects across the business.  He is a grandson of Babich Wines’ founder, Josip Babich, a 3rd generation family participant, and an existing Director of Babich Wines.

“It’s a fascinating time for our industry and business,” said Joe Babich, executive director. “We’re seeking aggressive growth, investing significantly, and there is a lot of change. We’re thrilled to have André’s expertise and day-to-day involvement as we continue to expand.”  David Babich, Chief Executive Officer, says “I welcome the opportunity to work with André. We share the values of our grandfather, Josip, and we both have a vision of excellence for Babich Wines.”

André is passionate about all business functions and, over time, will be engaged with many touch points across the company. André says “I always expected I would join the business in time. It’s a responsibility and a luxury to do so now, continuing the family tradition.”

Since the first bottle of Babich wine was produced in 1916, the Babich family has been regarded as a leader within the New Zealand wine industry. Babich Wines is New Zealand’s most experienced family-owned and operated winery, strongly engaged in export markets around the world.
