The South Australian government has committed $AUD 60 million to build a world-class food and hospitality school in Adelaide. Construction on the International Centre for Food, Hospitality and Tourism is expected to begin next year at Lot Fourteen, a former hospital site.
South Australia is known for its foods and wines, and the vision for the new centre will be to expand and develop this. Karen Horner, director of tourism, hospitality and creative arts, said, “South Australia’s hospitality and tourism sectors are leading the nation, and this investment will ensure our expert teaching staff have access to a modern training environment, which will position us as an international leader in culinary, hospitality and tourism education.”
Scoping for the centre is to begin immediately in the hope that investors and suitable courses to be run at the centre will be aligned.
