A luxury steakhouse in Boston has recently purchased what its owners are calling “the first and only Instagram table in the country.” Featuring moveable arm lights, adjustable light intensity and colour temperature settings, the $10,000 piece of custom-built equipment is the star of Boston Chops Downtown Crossing, built in consultation with social media ‘influencers’.
“Social media is a big part of the dining scene today and we didn’t have to think about it when we opened Boston Chops South End five years ago,” said chef and co-owner Chris Coombs. “Now, it is imperative that photos of restaurant interior and food are beautiful when they are posted online by influencers. It is a great marketing tool for people to see our food, décor and cocktails and hopefully entice them to check it out for themselves.”
Coombs and co-owner Brian Piccini have made the entire restaurant social media friendly, with a range of decorations and images lining the walls. The table is available for reservation by request.
